Position Summary:

The Research Chemist – Chemist Synthesis would have a role in all aspects of organic fine chemical products, sugar, polysaccharide, nucleoside, carbohydrate and drugs, in support of research and synthesis goals. The Chemist role is a lab-based position involving hands on synthesis, analyses and problem solving to support new and existing products. In this role the Chemist is responsible for innovating new products; developing new processes; executing laboratory scale synthesis; quantitative analyses using HPLC, FTIR, NMR, GC, MS, KF and other analytical techniques. The Chemist is also expected to work independently and within international team to initiate plan and carry out exploratory research projects. The Chemist will be responsible for a team of 10 people in R D and QC lab.

Education Background:

Required Qualifications:

PhD Degree in Chemistry, Organic synthesis or related field. Minimum of 6 years of professional or post-doctoral research experience in chemistry and/or a pharmaceutical field. 3-5 years’ experience in drug design and synthesis. Experience performing organic chemical synthesis including designing chemical synthesis pathways, recognizing and identifying reaction by-product and developing structure-performance relationships. The scale of the synthesis may range from milligrams to 100’s grams. Expertise with a wide range of synthetic chemistry is essential which may include carbohydrates and nucleoside synthesis. Strong interpersonal skills. Able to work with people of varying technical backgrounds. Keen to mentor other scientific personnel and lead by example. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment. Excellent organizational and communication (written and verbal) skills needed to document, interpret and communicate technical results to colleagues and customers. Manage budget and product costs. Ability to scale up active compounds with high purity, identify structure using NMR, HPLC, GC and Mass Spectroscopy. Good data analysis skills and knowledge of statistical methods. Ability to conduct experiments with a high degree of accuracy and precision. Experience handling chemicals in the lab according to current safety regulations and guidelines. Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP). Comply with ISO certification requirements. Manage senior chemists in R D lab and QC lab. Ability to work independently on non-routine experiments and apply scientific principles to the design and execution of exploratory projects. Responsible for lab equipment maintenance.Company Info:
